Dear Boulder Valley School District Families,
As we excitedly await our move to Phase 4 - In Person Learning at our middle and high schools, which is coming up on March 30, we did want to take a moment to remind everyone to continue to do their part to help us #StayTogetherBVSD.
Our partners in public health reached out to us this week to share concern that there has been a significant increase in cases amongst middle and high school students. Most of the cases have been connected to outside of school exposures, such as gatherings – including parties --and club sports.
We understand that everyone is experiencing COVID fatigue and just want to get back to normal. It, however, is incredibly important for us to keep cases in our community and especially amongst our secondary students stable, in order for us to expand in-person learning to four days a week in our secondary schools.
As always, it is important that everyone remember to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by taking these simple actions whenever you go out:
- Stay home if you are sick
Monitor for any signs or symptoms of illness. If these occur, stay away from others and get tested. Testing is free and widely available in Colorado
- Wear a face covering
Consistently and correctly wear a mask around others who are not part of your immediate household
- Keep your distance
Practice social distancing when you are around others not part of your immediate household.
Avoid gatherings with others not part of your immediate household. Do not gather in large groups and do not gather indoors.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, and hand sanitizer
Practice good hand hygiene and proper surface disinfection.
Consider the risks of any activities you undertake
Different activities have different risks. Be sure to consider the level of community transmission wherever you are.
- Dining out at a restaurant
- Air travel
- Group gatherings
- Sporting events – either as an athlete or as a spectator
- Religious services and life rites
Be aware of your contacts
If someone with whom you have had close contact tests positive for COVID-19, you must quarantine.
By taking those same simple precautions in our layered system of health precautions that have worked so well to keep our school safe, when we are out and about – we can keep ourselves and each other safe – and ensure that we have the opportunity to take the next step towards normalcy.
Help us #StayTogetherBVSD!
¡Ayúdennos a #PermanecerUnidosBVSD!
