This spring, BVSD’s Office of Sustainability is introducing “A Day in the Life of greenBVSD” to help show how sustainability is built into day to day life at BVSD. This project aligns with the greenBVSD Action Plan and the new tool is an idea that arose from discussions with the district’s Sustainability Advisory Committee to highlight and share the features and programs that exist in our schools that support our sustainability goals.
The interactive tool allows visitors to explore what a day in the life of greenBVSD is like by clicking through the various icons positioned around and inside a school building in an interactive tour. Metrics and stories include alternative transportation, electrified and renewably supported buildings, healthy and sustainably sourced meals, and many other efforts happening around the district.
This is the 1.0 version of the tool, and is just the beginning. Staff plan to continue to add information to the tool and eventually gather videos and photos from students and staff showing how they experience sustainability in BVSD on a daily basis.
“Our goal with the new Day in the Life of greenBVSD tool is to recognize and celebrate all of the exciting sustainability work happening at the schools,” Sustainability and Energy Officer, Dr. Ghita Carroll explained.
The Day in the Life tool joins the annually updated Sustainability Dashboard, which shows what sustainability efforts are happening at schools across the district, along with the utility use for each school, and how each school compares to other BVSD schools.
