New visitor and volunteer management system enhances school safety

A new safety system is now in place for visitors and volunteers to Boulder Valley School District schools. 

 The new Raptor Visitor and Volunteer Management System gathers visitors name and date of birth to check for sex offender status. Information is gathered via the person's ID, which is scanned or manually entered into the system. If the visitor does not have a US government-issued ID, they will be asked to provide another form of identification or to give their name and date of birth to enter into the system. 

The Raptor system only checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded. The system is not connected to any other database and information is not shared with any outside agency.

Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor/volunteer, the date and the purpose of his/her visit.

Additionally, it will streamline the background checks that are required to volunteer in our schools, saving families time and making it more accessible and equitable for them to participate and support their child’s education and school.

Boulder Valley School District remains dedicated to educating each and every student and ensuring they and their family feel safe and welcomed, regardless of their race, gender identity, legal status or any other factor. 

• BVSD will never ask for a student or parent’s citizenship or immigration status.
• If we learn of a student’s immigration status we would never share this with immigration officials. 

This new system helps strengthen campus safety for students and staff, and makes it much easier for family members to volunteer at their child’s school.

El nuevo sistema de gestión de visitantes y voluntarios mejora la seguridad escolar
 
Ahora hay un nuevo sistema de seguridad para los visitantes y voluntarios de las escuelas del Distrito Escolar del Valle de Boulder.
 
El nuevo Sistema de Gestión de Visitantes y Voluntarios Raptor recopila el nombre y la fecha de nacimiento de los visitantes para comparar estos datos con el registro nacional de delincuentes sexuales. La información se recopila a través de la identificación de la persona, que se escanea o se ingresa manualmente en el sistema. Si el visitante no tiene una identificación emitida por el gobierno de los EE.UU., se le pedirá que proporcione otra forma de identificación o que proporcione su nombre y fecha de nacimiento para ingresar al sistema.
 
El sistema Raptor solo verifica el nombre y la fecha de nacimiento del visitante para compararlos con el registro nacional de delincuentes sexuales. No se recopilan ni se registran otros datos de la identificación. El sistema no está conectado a ninguna otra base de datos y la información no se comparte con ninguna agencia externa.
 
Una vez que se aprueba la entrada, Raptor emitirá una insignia que identifica al visitante/voluntario, la fecha y el propósito de su visita.
 
Además, simplificará las verificaciones de antecedentes que se requieren para ser voluntario en nuestras escuelas, lo que le ahorrará tiempo a las familias y hará que sea más accesible y equitativo para que participen y apoyen la educación y la escuela de sus hijos.
 
El Distrito Escolar del Valle de Boulder sigue dedicado a educar a todos y cada uno de los estudiantes y a garantizar que ellos y sus familias se sientan seguros y bienvenidos, independientemente de su raza, identidad de género, estado legal o cualquier otro factor.

• El BVSD nunca pedirá la ciudadanía o el estado migratorio de un estudiante o padre.
• Si nos enteramos del estado migratorio de un estudiante, nunca lo compartiremos con los funcionarios de inmigración. 

Este nuevo sistema ayuda a fortalecer la seguridad del campus para los estudiantes y el personal, y hace que sea mucho más fácil para los miembros de la familia trabajar como voluntarios en la escuela de sus hijos.
