Plug in at BVSD

BVSD is adding electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at our schools as part of the Building for Success Program with support of grant funding of the Regional Air Quality Council.

“Knowing that I can charge my car while at work is a big relief,” said employee Marlys Lietz who works in Advanced Academic Services.

"We have several teachers and parents with electric vehicles that take advantage of our new charging stations,” said Jonathan Wolfer, principal at Douglass Elementary School. “These stations affirm our district's commitment to sustainability, and send a clear message to our community about our efforts to reduce pollution and reliance on fossil fuels.”

The new stations are part of a growing EV charging network in our community that is spurring the use of sustainable modes of transportation to and from our schools.

“I am proud to say that there are many Leaf owners here at the district with whom I compete for a plug!” Lietz added.

To date, 22 BVSD schools have been equipped with EV stations with another seven planned this summer. The district has received $181,540 of grant funding to help offset the costs for this project.
