This summer, RTD's Board of Directors voted to make the Zero Fare for Youth pilot program a permanent fare change. This means that anyone 19 and under can ride the RTD system for free on all RTD services, including buses and trains. If you are heading out of town, keep in mind that service to DIA is also included.

Additionally, RTD will be making its fall service adjustments on September 29th. Several of the most popular RTD routes for BVSD students will see an increase in frequency, including the 204, 225, Dash, Jump, and Skip routes. RTD also made some timing adjustments to better serve Louisville Middle School and Manhattan Middle School.

The Zero Fare for Youth program is a fantastic opportunity for our students to travel freely across the region, whether they’re heading to summer activities, jobs, or simply exploring new places. Here are some key details:

  • Eligibility: All youth aged 19 and under
  • Validity: Free rides on all RTD services
  • How to Ride: Simply board any RTD bus or train and enjoy your free ride! Your driver may ask to see a school i.d. if you look close to 19
  • Use the RTD Trip Planner to figure out which bus(es) will get you where you want to go.

This program not only supports students' independence and mobility but also encourages the use of public transportation, contributing to a more sustainable community.

For more information about the program and to plan your trips, please visit the RTD website.
