New Sustainability Advisory Committee- Call for Nominations

The BVSD Office of Sustainability is thrilled to announce the creation of the new Sustainability Advisory Committee (“Community Group, or Group”) and call for nominations of members. This new community group was established through the 2021 greenBVSD Action Plan released this fall. The mission of the committee will be to act as a cross-sector advisory group to oversee the progress and continuous improvement related to all aspects of the greenBVSD Action Plan. 

The group will make suggestions and give advice to the Board in order to assist it in its decision-making. The committee will have 15 members total, representing the communities throughout the District, teachers, parents, staff, students, and District partners. Members selected through the inaugural nomination process will serve a two-year term.

Once formed, the committee will solidify its structure and operations through the creation of by-laws that outline all aspects of the group. The committee is expected to meet quarterly, and its first meeting will take place shortly after spring semester begins in January 2022. The time commitment is estimated to be one to two hours per month.

La Oficina de Sostenibilidad del BVSD está muy emocionada de anunciar la formación del nuevo Comité Asesor de Sostenibilidad y una convocatoria para nominar a los miembros. Este nuevo grupo comunitario se estableció mediante el Plan de acción greenBVSD de 2021, que el distrito lanzó este otoño. La misión del comité es de actuar como un grupo asesor en todos los sectores que supervisa el progreso y las continuas mejoras que se implementan como parte del Plan de acción greenBVSD. 

El grupo recibirá sugerencias y asesorará al Consejo en la toma de decisiones. El comité constará de 15 miembros en total, que representarán las comunidades en todo el distrito: maestros, padres, empleados, estudiantes y socios del distrito. Los miembros elegidos mediante el proceso inaugural de nominación estarán en funciones durante un término de dos años.

Una vez formado, el comité consolidará su estructura y operaciones formulando reglamentos que se aplicarán a todos los aspectos del grupo. El comité se reunirá cada tres meses, y la primera reunión tomará lugar a comienzos del semestre de primavera en enero de 2022. Se calcula que los miembros deberán comprometerse al trabajo durante dos horas por mes.
