BVSD using a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework. In supportive teams, teachers use data to identify strengths of students as well as their greatest area of need. Using evidence based practices, teachers provide small group targeted instruction supported with resources for independent practice. This will then be followed by check-ins and reteaching as necessary. Families and students are involved in the goals and the progress made. MTSS also addresses the whole child - taking into account the students social and emotional needs. District team is working on a plan to support targeted instruction that takes place beyond the school day. No matter what phase we are in, teachers can deliver targeted instruction to small groups of students. This instruction not only meets the student where they are in their learning continuum and moves them forward but the closeness of the groups supports students in their social and emotional well-being.
