Boulder Valley School District

Excellence Through Equity Projects

Parents of Color Council

Why is this important?

It is important that all voices are heard in the district and currently, the voices of parents of color in the district are dispersed and often marginalized.  This council provides a necessary unified space that allows for the voices of parents of color to be amplified, as well as creates a safe space for meaningful conversation around necessary systemic change for students of color in the district.

Project Description

The Parents of Color Council was formed in recognition of a need for BVSD to create a more equitable and inclusive environment for "marginalized" populations within our school district. While the questions are general and open-ended we focus them on the families who are under-represented so that we can better support and help facilitate opportunities, platforms, forums, and structures that provide safety, precise resources, and support as needed.
