Superintendent's Blog

Keeping our students safe

As a life-long educator and a father of two, I am deeply concerned about our students and school district in light of the recent allegations of sexual assault in our community.

Our thoughts are with our students who are impacted by these events and all students impacted by sexual violence. We are committed to working to assure students and families receive the support they need.

All Together for All Students

As superintendent, one of my favorite parts of the job is getting to visit our outstanding schools.  As you may recall, I spent many years in schools as a teacher and administrator – and I know the importance of hearing from the voices in our school buildings. Far too often, superintendents can become insulated and worse yet, out of touch with the work happening in our classrooms.

This fall I’m once again visiting each and every one of our 56 schools. As I work to meet with every teacher and employee, it is clear that this community cares deeply about our children, believes in their potential, and places a high value on education.

Let’s slow down and drive more carefully for our kids and community
Thank you for a wonderful first year

Over the past few days, I have had the honor of greeting more than 2,000 of Boulder Valley’s graduates during this year’s commencement ceremonies. I am inspired by these young adults and cannot wait to see what they do as they venture into the world.
