‚ÄčThis year's changes:

  • The current four tier structure is being replaced with a five tier plan that will include a separate deduction for employee + spouse and employee + child. (Please see the new rates for 2017-2018).
  • Kaiser:
    No plan changes (other than tier structure)
  • Cigna:
    Increasing Rx copays to $10/$40/$75 and 20% coinsurance for specialty meds up to $200 maximum
    Offering Telemedicine to both standard and basic plans - $10 copay
    Adding Cigna 90Now, a reduced network of pharmacies for 90-day prescriptions; mail delivery still available
      (no impact on one-time, 30 days or fewer, prescriptions)
  • Delta Dental: 
    Adding coverage for dental guard, July 1
  • Deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums are staying the same on all plans.

Open Enrollment is once a year during the month of April (effective date of changes is July1).

Changes can be made outside of open enrollment with a qualifying event, such as birth, adoption, marriage, divorce, loss of job or loss of other insurance, and spouse's employer's open enrollment. Change requests must be submitted within 30 days of the qualifying event and must accompany verification documentation.

All employees are enrolled in PERA and are eligible to participate in BVSD voluntary savings plans -  401(k), 403(b), and 457.
