Academic and CTE Integration

CTE content standards in Colorado are aligned to academic standards, and rigorous academics are part of each student's plan of study. The state's course builder allows CTE teachers to build courses based on industry-defined and academic standards. In addition, a CTE course may be approved for both CTE and academic credit.

Academic integration is a major focus of professional development in Colorado. In addition, Colorado has participated in Math-in-CTE professional development provided by the National Research Center for CTE. The Project Lead the Way STEM curriculum has also been implemented in many schools in Colorado, with the accompanying professional development.

College and career readiness: Colorado has adopted the Common Core State Standards and is a governing state in the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.

In addition, CareerReady Colorado is a statewide initiative that certifies job seeker skills, while Colorado Succeeds has worked with the Colorado Department of Education and the Department of Higher Education to define postsecondary and workforce readiness.
