Preschool Locations for 2027-28
Please note the following adjustments for preschool offerings in the communities affected by the Resilient Schools plan:
Birch and Kohl
After evaluating our options, the Boulder Valley School District has decided to place preschool and enrichment programs at the Birch building. Both half-day and full-day options will be available for families at Birch.
Louisville & Superior
Monarch will no longer house preschool; however, preschool will be offered at Coal Creek, Eldorado, Fireside, and Louisville elementary schools. An Enrichment program will be added at Louisville Elementary, allowing all four locations to provide both half day and full day options. Capacity at both Eldorado and Louisville will increase in order to keep BVSD’s promise to maintain preschool options in the Louisville/Superior area.
Bear Creek and Mesa
Mesa Elementary will no longer offer preschool. The closest preschool program to Mesa Elementary will be at Creekside Elementary (3740 Martin Dr.), where Enrichment will also be offered to provide families with half-day and full-day options. Other Boulder sites are Columbine, Community Montessori (located at 3995 Aurora Ave.), Eisenhower, Heatherwood, High Peaks (located at 840 N. 75th St., Boulder), and University Hill elementary schools and the Mapleton Early Childhood Center. Except for High Peaks, all of these locations provide both half day and full day programming. Columbine and University Hill are both bilingual programs (Spanish and English). Capacity at Creekside will increase.
High Peaks
Preschool will be offered at High Peaks' new location at 840 N. 75th St., Boulder. At this time, enrolling in the preschool at High Peaks will not guarantee admission to High Peaks Elementary for kindergarten in 2028-2029.
Community Montessori
Preschool will continue to be offered at Community Montessori at its new location.
Preschool Enrollment Processes for All Families
The Preschool Program’s enrollment season for school year 2027-28 will begin in the fall of this year on or about Nov. 1. At that time, in alignment with the K-12 School Choice enrollment window, the Preschool Program will open the preschool tuition lottery window for 3 year olds. Families new to BVSD preschool are encouraged to visit schools and submit applications within the window. The lottery is typically run in early January. Precise dates for the preschool lottery window and application deadlines will be announced in October. Once the lottery has been completed, families of 3 year olds are invited to apply directly to the preschool program of choice.
The Colorado Universal Preschool Program (UPK) typically opens its application in mid-December to 4 year olds who are returning for a second year of preschool to a specific site, children who are enrolling for the first time to a school where older siblings will attend, or whose parents are employees at the desired school. UPK typically opens its application to families who do not qualify for continuity of care around February.
Returning Preschool Families please note:
Preschool community liaisons will reach out to families of 3 and 4 year olds who may be returning for a second year of preschool in 2027-28 to discuss school preferences for the following year, including moving to another BVSD preschool site. Whereas the Preschool Program can never guarantee a particular location, returning preschoolers will be offered preference and every effort will be made to enroll the student in the family’s first choice. Community liaisons will also assist families in navigating the UPK parent portal as needed.
