Since we can't celebrate our retirees in person this year,  we created this page to honor them. We are grateful for the years of dedicated work our soon-to-be retirees have devoted to our community.

They are appreciated and will be dearly missed!

Thank you to all our BVSD employees who have retired/will be retiring during the 2020-21 School Year!

Note: Some Employees listed may be finishing their 110 contract in the upcoming year.

Operations

Becky Young is retiring after having been Boulder Valley District’s only AutoCAD (Computer Aided Design) tech for 30 years and though her job is invisible to the vast majority of the public and many of the people within the district, it would not be the same amazing school district it is today without her.

She has a duel major Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and in Health Education from the University of Toledo, Ohio, with a minor in Special Physical Education and taught a short time. She learned how to program in RPG before spending ten and a half years as a Stay At Home Mom. She earned an AutoCAD certificate from Paddock in BVSD and was offered a job at the district soon after.

Originally hired for a 3 month period to make drawings so the district could mediate asbestos in buildings, her year round job has morphed and expanded over the years. Becky has manually drawn most of the old blue prints into the computer and then hand measured and verified each line. She has measured and checked every door, window, countertop, sink, fire alarm pull, fire extinguisher in every room, hall, closet, shed, out building, sheds, and portable in the districts vast collection of buildings and properties. After earning her Playground Safety certificate, she pioneered a safe playground push in the district by cataloging and recording every piece of playground and sport field item at the elementary schools and K-8’s in the district.

Known in the Education Center as a friendly fellow employee with a can-do attitude, anyone could ask her to help them with the maps of a floorplan, many times getting square footage for closets and classrooms. Her maps are featured on the backs of countless notebook planners for students from Broomfield. The team effort of remodeling or replacing schools start with the knowledge she is able to provide the district and architects. When the district needed to fine tune the attendance area maps for different schools, Becky hand verified address and made possible to determine which side of the line several houses should be on. She has driven countless miles to measure and recheck every line she has drawn, from Birch Elementary in Broomfield in the southeast of the district to Gold Hill and Jamestown in the northwest.

Her hard work, ability to be self-motivated, independent, reliable team worker, and her pies and desserts she brought for her fellow members of Planning and Engineering birthdays will be missed at the district. She is looking forward to her next phase of life of traveling to national parks, quilting, and spending time with her grandkids.
