COBRA Rates

What is COBRA and what is its purpose?

COBRA is short for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act and is a law signed by President Reagan effective for health plans July 1, 1986 and forward. Its purpose is to provide employees and/or their covered dependents who experience a qualifying event the right to elect continuation of their health plan coverage. Coverage is under the employer's group health plan, is self-paid and is for a specific amount of time. Employees and qualified beneficiaries have 60 days to enroll with COBRA after their benefits end with BVSD.

Once your benefits expire, the Benefits Specialist requests a COBRA packet for you. The packet will be delivered to your home address, you can opt-in or not, or enroll in another plan of your choosing.

Rocky Mountain Reserve is the COBRA Administrator for BVSD.
They can be reached at 888-722-1223, option 2
