Substitute Teachers

All substitute teachers in the Boulder Valley School District must hold a current Colorado teaching license or a Colorado Substitute Authorization of three or five years, issued by the Colorado Department of Education, and a bachelor's degree. For more information on this, visit the CDE Licensing web page.

The rate of pay for the current school year is $100.00 per day, and $55.00 per half day.

If you wish to apply for a regular contracted teaching position and, in the interim, also wish to be considered for substitute teaching, you can apply for both a regular licensed position and a substitute position at the same time.

Please be aware of the following requirements if recommended for hire.  Pending final approval of hire, applicants will be required to provide fingerprints for a background check. Upon hire, employees must complete a new hire packet.  The fingerprint processing fee of $39.50 will be deducted from the employee’s first two paychecks.
