Bike to School

It’s a good time to bike to school!

BVSD Safe Routes is working to make cycling to school a way of life through education, encouragement and partnerships. In fact, our aim for the BVSD school community is to elevate bicycling (walking too!) to a primary means of transportation.

The joy of cycling goes on and on. Consider the fresh feeling of air on your face, the chance to get a little exercise, playing your part to reduce greenhouse gas pollution, or simply taking a break from the family car.

As a form of active transportation, biking to school helps us meet the daily requirements of physical activity which in turn is linked to learning and academic performance.

How do parents help their child be a safe bicyclist? Download a bicycling safety tip sheet.

Need a bike? Check out Community Cycles for an excellent selection of used bicycles.
