BVSD Selected as 2014 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools District Sustainability Awardee!

The Boulder Valley School District is honored to have been selected as one of just nine school districts in the nation for this recognition by U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools. BVSD also thanks the Colorado Department of Education and Colorado Commissioner of Education Robert Hammond for the endorsement of our application.

As a district, we are long-time supporters of integrating sustainability into our operations and education. Healthy schools are crucial for healthy children and a healthy planet, and while BVSD still has work to do to achieve our long-term visions of sustainability for the district, we are proud of all we, as a community, have accomplished to date. Sustainability work in our schools would not be possible without the support, collaboration and efforts of so many people:
    • parents and students biking to school and creating gardens,
    • teachers supporting sustainability in curriculum,
    • food services staff providing healthy meals for our students, and
    • district leadership and community partners supporting this work every day.
This recognition will help continue to build momentum for more great work in the future by the BVSD community.
