BVSD School Board to Conduct "School Board Training Session" June 15 at 6:00 p.m.

Potential candidates for the three school board seats up on November 7, 2017, will hear important information about ballot qualifications and what to expect as a school board director should they run and win.

Boulder, CO -- Citizens in the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) interested in running for one of the three school board seats up for election on November 7, 2017, are invited by members of the current BVSD Board of Education to attend a School Board Training sessions at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in the Board Meeting Room located at the east end of the BVSD Education Center at 6500 E. Arapahoe Road in Boulder. These sessions are voluntary and attendance is not a prerequisite for candidacy.

The three school board director seats that will be up for election in 2017 are:
District B (northern area of the City of Boulder & northern mountain region of BVSD)
District E (eastern City of Boulder & City of Louisville with unincorporated parts of Boulder County in between)
District F (most of the City & County of Broomfield)
Individuals considering running in 2017 may want to confirm their respective school board district residency with their respective county's elections office. Candidates must be registered voters and reside in the school board district from which they are running. However, all BVSD school board candidates who qualify for the November 7 ballot will run district-wide.

Some of the topics that will be discussed between attendees and the presenting school board members are
  1. ballot qualification procedures and filing deadlines,
  2. the role of the school board in district policy planning and oversight, and
  3. the personal time commitment to expect if elected.
