Community members invited to see new Meadowlark School

Grand opening celebration is Monday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Boulder Valley School District will celebrate grand opening of its first school in Erie with ribbon cutting event

ERIE - Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) invites community member to attend the grand opening of Meadowlark School (2300 Meadow Sweet Lane) in Erie on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the school. The event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by an open house where community members are invited to tour the new building.

The new school, which was constructed through the 2014 bond-funded Building for Student Success program, welcomed its inaugural class of students in grades PK-8 in August. The second and final phase of construction, including the gyms and music classrooms, was completed in November. The 108,750 square foot school is BVSD’s first in Erie and is designed to serve 750 students.
The design of the building was shaped by Boulder Valley’s strategic plan, which focuses on educational innovation. The building employs flexible learning environments to create spaces that allow teachers to personalize learning for students, use multiple modes to deliver instruction and facilitate learning to fully engage students in their education. A variety of spaces, along with furniture and even walls that can be easily reconfigured, support different teaching approaches and learning needs throughout the day.
In addition, the school is built to the highest green building standards to support the district’s aggressive sustainability and energy efficiency goals. It has been designed to be net zero energy capable, maximizing energy efficiency and laying the groundwork for future installation of renewable energy sources.
