BOULDER – Following a nationwide search and extensive interviews, on Tuesday night during a Special Meeting, the Boulder Valley School District’s Board of Education selected BVSD’s next leader. With a vote of 6-1 the Board appointed Dr. Rob Anderson as the new superintendent of BVSD, pending contract negotiations. The decision comes two weeks after the Board announced two finalists for the position, Anderson and Krish Mohip. During that time, both candidates visited Boulder Valley, met students and staff at our schools, and participated in a series of interviews with the Board of Education and members of the community. During the community interviews, which were open to the public, select students, parents and residents had the chance to ask their questions to the finalists. It is important to note that this process was informed by the more than 25 Community Forums held by BVSD this fall and winter, in which community members had the opportunity to share what attributes they hoped to see in BVSD’s next Superintendent.Dr. Anderson has been an educator for 21 years, most recently serving as the Deputy Superintendent of Academics for Fulton County Schools in Atlanta, Georgia, a school district that serves 96,500 students in 102 schools. He started his career as a Title I math and science teacher in Orlando, Florida, before rising through the leadership ranks. Along the way, he was a high school principal for eight years.Anderson is expected to take office on July 1, 2018. BVSD will be working to provide a number of opportunities for the community to meet and hear from our new leader.
