 BVSD students to participate in “Emerge: Colorado Latino Business Conference” hosted by Boulder County Latino Chamber in Longmont

Colorado Lt. Governor Joe Garcia to Keynote Event Luncheon

BOULDER – Students from BVSD high schools will be attending “Emerge: Colorado Latino Business Conference,” a statewide conference hosted by the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Boulder County on Thursday, October 15 at the Plaza Event Center, 1900 Ken Pratt Blvd. in Longmont. Additionally, BVSD high schools – Arapahoe Ridge, Boulder, Fairview, Justice, Centaurus, Broomfield, Monarch and Peak to Peak – along with the BVSD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center are sending teams of five students each to participate in the “Young Rebels Entrepreneurship Competition” which will take place in the afternoon. SVVSD high schools –  Mead, Skyline, Old Columbine, Longmont will also be competing.
The Young Rebels Competition is intended by the Latino Chamber to give students “a chance to create an innovative solution to a problem facing their school, youth, their community, a particular industry or the world.” Student teams will submit a basic business plan to go along with their idea for an original product or service to launch as a new business, giving students an opportunity to showcase their work and ideas. Prizes per team are $5,000 for first place, $2,500 for second place and $1,250 for third place.
