District Teams

District competition for grades 3-8 is April 26, 2025, at Meadowlark School in Erie. High school will compete on April 24, 2025, at Fairview High School.

Teams

• A District Team is a group of no more than 5 students within the same grade level. 
• Any mixed grade level teams will compete at the highest grade level of the team members.
• Alternates can be on stand by up until the day before the event. There will not be substitutes rotating into the battle during the competition.

Competition

• Remember:
  • the purpose of Battle of the Books is to inspire reading for the love of reading, not competition,
  • the battle itself is not a spectator event, but the awards portion is a great time to be there as a parent

• One team from each grade level at each school will advance to the district competition

• Students must check in and be ready to compete 15 minutes before the competition begins.

• All cell phones must be turned off and stored during the competition.

• All books must be closed during the competition. 

• A list of the books with cover images will be provided for each team

• Grade level teams from each school will answer 40 questions. 
  • Students will be given 30 seconds to answer each question
  • There will be a clock in the presentation
  • Points will be awarded based on the number of questions answered correctly. 

• Each student that competes at the district level will receive an award certificate.

• There is a traveling trophy for each first place team.
