School Teams
School Teams |
- Even though this is a highly competitive event, remember that the purpose of this event is to inspire students to read more and love the reading they are doing, which includes the fun of friendly competition.
- All interested students should be given the opportunity to participate.
- All students are expected to read all books for their grade level.
- In the event of less than 5 grade level participants, team managers can combine grades.
- A combined grade level team must read and compete at the highest grade level on the team. For example, a combined 4th and 5th grade teams must read and compete at the 5th grade level.
- In the event of more than 5 grade level participants, the School Coordinator/Team Manager can run it as one large grade level team for the school event. See School Competitions below.
- Practice questions are sent to the team managers in January. Team managers can use them to practice for the school and district competitions.
-
School Teams larger than 5 members compete in March to send one winning 5-person team per grade level to the District competition in April.
- All school battles should be completed by April 4, 2025.
-
School winning teams need to register by April 11, 2025. Distric Registration forms will be sent in March.
School Competitions |
- It is at the School Coordinator's discretion how the school competition will be held. This may change from year to year depending on the interest level. Some options may include:
- If there is less student interest during the school year, and the school has enough for only one team at every grade level to compete, the school is not obligated to hold a school competition. Those teams can advance as the grade level team to the district competition.
- If there are just enough students at a grade level that there are more than 5 and less than 10 students, the school can choose to have each single student compete against each other to make up their grade level team for the district competition.
- If there are enough students that multiple teams at the same grade level exist, those teams can compete against each other to determine which is the grade level team for the district competition.
