Charter Schools
Boulder Valley School District Charter Schools serving students in grades 9-12 may offer concurrent enrollment opportunities to qualified students. To do so, charter school representatives must first seek approval from the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s Designee to participate to determine the allocation of resources devoted to concurrent/dual enrollment opportunities (money and staff). Charter schools also have the option to enter into their own concurrent enrollment agreements with institutions of higher education (IHEs).
In partnership with Front Range Community College, BVSD operates three programs:
-
High School Select - courses offered in the high school
-
Campus Select - students travel to FRCC for classes
-
District Select - course sections open only to BVSD students and are offered either on a BVSD campus after school or online
BVSD Charter Schools are not covered by BVSD concurrent enrollment MOUs with postsecondary partners to participate in the High School or Campus Select programs. However, BVSD Charter School students, with approval from the College Before Graduation coordinator, may be allowed to participate in the BVSD District Select program if space is available. This decision has been made based on the funding model of the District Select program.
Charter students participating in District Select courses must follow the same procedures for pre-approval as non-charter students:
-
Please review the information on the FRCC page and follow the instructions for completing the FRCC application, authorizing COF and requesting the class through BVSD. This includes completing the CBG Agreement/Request every semester.
-
Receive approval from the District Career and College office and the school counselor or administrator.
-
Once approved, the student and their parent will receive an email with further instructions for registration and accessing the class. FRCC will complete the registration process for the student.
-
Students may not be added to a District Select class after the first day of classes.
