Choose Your Course(s)

Discuss the College Before Graduation Program with your parent/guardian. Meet with your counselor to determine if the course you want to take will work with your high school schedule. Check the course catalog to know if the course you are interested in requires any prerequisites. You can not take a course unless you have met those prerequisites. If you are not sure which courses to take, reach out to CU Boulder for more direction on career pathways.

GT Pathways courses, in which the student earns a C- or higher, will always transfer and apply to GT Pathways requirements in AA, AS and most bachelor's degrees at every public Colorado college and university. CU GT Courses

BVSD will only pay the local community college tuition rate of $153.35 (after COF is applied) which is $460.05 for a 3 credit hour class. A typical 3 credit hour class at CU is $1,440, high school students pay the difference in the amount of about $980 figured at $1,440 (CU rate) - $460.05 (community college rate)

Sign Up For Courses

Step 1: Apply to CU Boulder

Apply to CU Boulder. You will need the identification number from the college to complete the enrollment process. This may take a few days to receive.

Step 2: Complete Request Form

Complete the BVSD District 'College Before Graduation Request Form' for the semester you are requesting. This needs to be completed every semester.

Step 3: Complete CBG Agreement

Complete the BVSD District 'College Before Graduation Agreement' which must be signed by you, your parent/guardian, and your high school counselor. This needs to be completed every semester.

Step 4: District Approval

After you are approved, you will receive an email from the District letting you know that you have been approved and what are the required next steps. Please email us if you are close to the deadline to apply and have not received an email.

Step 5: Register for Classes

After your counselor has approved your course selection, you are responsible for working with the college, registering for the approved course(s), and paying the appropriate tuition and/or fees.

Fall 2022 Checklist

Turn in your course schedule to your high school counselor. Continue to communicate with your counselor and parents/guardian on your progress. We want you to be successful, so if you are struggling with the course, let us know early on so we can help you to find the support you need.

IMPORTANT

Buy your textbooks and pay any of the student fees required.
Login on the first day of class, regardless when your class starts
Remember to check your CU email frequently.
The course syllabus that the teacher provides lists all of the reading and course assignments. Check the syllabus daily to stay on top of what needs to be done. Also, when the class is finished, save the syllabus in an electronic file - you may need it when transferring the credit to a university!

This class meets the General Education requirement for lower-division writing in the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Media, Communication and Information, and the Leeds School of Business. It also meets the Colorado Council of Higher Education’s Guaranteed Transfer requirements for an intermediate writing course (GT-C02).

Office of Disability Services & Support Services

If you have specific, individual needs (i.e. 504 or IEP), you must contact CU’s Office of Disability Services to learn about how your needs will be met. Accommodations provided at the high school may not be allowed as reasonable accommodations at the college level. Tuition and Student Fees

BVSD pays only the local community college tuition rate (after COF is applied), regardless of which college or university the student attends. For example, tuition for approved courses taken at Colorado Community Colleges are fully covered, but families are responsible for the additional tuition costs of any other public post-secondary institution.
