Michelle Dubois was selected for Superintendent’s Honor Roll in recognition of two recent achievements:

  • The Colorado Association of Gifted and Talented selected Michelle as the 2014 Outstanding Educator of the Year for Colorado in gifted education
  • In January, Michelle will be inducted into the Colorado Academy of Educators of the Gifted, Talented and Creative (CAEGTC), an honor society of exemplary leaders in gifted education in Colorado and beyond.

In his letter of support for Michelle’s induction into CAEGTC, Guillermo wrote:

Michelle is an outstanding educator, a tireless learner, reflective about her practice, and a respected teacher leader at Columbine Elementary, particularly in the area related to identifying and providing TAG services for our diverse learners.

Michelle is always figuring out ways to support student learning through special classes, challenges, talent shows, spelling bees, or she is coaching regular education teachers… she is truly tireless. In addition, a particularly impressive skill that Michelle has is her ability to support the parents of our TAG students through classes, conferences, and by making herself available when challenges arise.

Michelle is currently working on her doctorate degree, has presented in local and national Gifted and Talented conferences, is a mentor teacher for TAG teachers in BVSD, and is passionate for bilingual education and finding valid ways for identifying for culturally diverse students and twice exceptional students.

Having said all this, the true reason why I strongly support this nomination is because Michelle loves teaching. One would only have to look at her face, sheer joy, when conducting in front of her budding musicians or facilitating a group of girls’ participation during a Destination Imagination competition.

Michelle will truly be a valuable member of CAEGTC.
